Islay

"Laughter o' love and a welcoming there, Isle o' my heart my own one." A famous line from a beloved Scottish song that truly reflects the feeling you’ll get when you complete your pilgrimage to one of the friendliest place in Scotland.

You'll be warmed, of course by 'Uisge Beatha', 'the water of life' - as you travel round this marvellous island sampling the national drink in what some have described as 'Whisky Valhalla'.

With ten distilleries (and counting) you can choose to see them all, or select your favourites. Each one has its own story, character and its own unforgettable dram.

Reaching Islay is part of the adventure. The island sits a two hour ferry ride from a remote terminal on the Kintyre peninsula. One full day is needed to travel to the island, and another to return. However, these are far from wasted days. Travel with us in comfort and style, taking in spectacular scenery along the way, with the chance to stop at a bonus distillery or two en route.

Once on the island, you’ll find a place where time slows down. From the smoky peat fires to the gentle rhythm of island life, Islay invites you to savour every moment - whether you’re exploring historic sites, walking along windswept shores, or discovering the craft behind some of Scotland’s most iconic whiskies.

Experience Islay with Drummond Scottish Tours - ensuring your journey to this remarkable island is one you’ll never forget.
